Abstract:
The sociological study of language dates back to three decades.The present study tries to investigate language attrition and changes among native speakers of Sardasht kurds living in Tehran in second language setting. This study aims at the preservation and keep of minority languages and wants to answer the following questions:
1. Among which sex, which age group and which language level (vocabulary, syntax or sounds) we can see the most changes and attrition?
2. What is the relationship between residence of migrants in new language setting and the attrition of their first language ?
3. What is the relationship between positive language identity and the attrition of the first language?
The subjects of the present study were 72 speakers of Sardasht Kurdish dialect in two independent groups living in Sardasht and Tehran.This research is a field study.The data was collected using a questionnaire.
In data analysis, through T statistical tests independent group and Pierson correlation coefficient, the average of language and view, Marks have been compared.
The findings of the research show that:
Tae most amount of language attrition and language change is seen among male speakers of migrants in (11-25) age a group living in Tehran. The most amount of language attrition is in vocabulary and the lest amount is in syntax. The more the residence of migrants in Tehran, the more the language attrition.
There is a high positive correlation between language marks of people and their view towards language and cultural identity.
